It should be noted that their similarities are much larger, and both have phenomenal gameplay, best-on-Wii graphics, and great soundtracks (leading to fantastic atmosphere). There are a number of other small differences, but these are the ones that stick out to me the most. Green star quest - could've been executed better but still superior to just playing the game through again as Luigi.
Less bogged down in story (Some people have a different view on this, but this is how I see it)
Yoshi, more power-ups, more galaxies, leading to greater variety in gameplay
No rehashed levels like Gold Leaf Galaxy in SMG Ice Mario and Flying Mario, why were these bad boys not back in SMG2!?
